How long does it take to get scabies?

Usually it takes prolonged or semi-prolonged skin to skin contact to catch scabies.

But not always.

Sometimes scabies mites are on the surface of the skin.

That means, you CAN get scabies from a handshake.

In which case, it only takes a second to become infested with scabies.

It is also possible to contract scabies from touching furniture or other objects that a scabies infested person has used.

Add this to the fact that scabies are very difficult to diagnose and eliminate and you will understand why many doctors, nurses and even emergency rooms will not see you if you have scabies.

The most common way people get scabies is through sexual contact. But that is not the only way. There is actually a severe problem with scabies worldwide - INCLUDING the United States. But due to the very embarrassing nature of the problem, people do not want to talk about it.

If you suspect you have scabies, you should begin treating your skin and your clothing, bedding, furniture and automobiles as soon as possible.

The longer you delay, the worse the infestation will get and the longer it will take to get rid of them.​
