1. Permethrin-based products and other poisons are not as effective as they used to be. The scabies mites have become resistant to them.

2. Scabies live under your skin and it takes a while to get them all. You have to use a product that works, and you have to use it consistently - EVERY DAY - until you have gotten rid of all your scabies symptoms.
